History of Pueblo

Before European settlers arrived, the Pueblo area was home to Indigenous peoples, including the Ute, Comanche, and Arapaho tribes. These groups relied on the Arkansas River and surrounding lands for sustenance and trade. Spanish explorers, including Juan de Oñate in the late 16th century, were among the first Europeans to visit the region, paving the way for future settlement.
